How to test a motorcycle ignition coil

Another easy test to do , to test if you coil is within manufacturers specs .

all you need is a multimeter , you can also test at the small connection terminal while turning bike over and see if it is receive the 12v coil signal from the cdi unit if you are getting 12v signal you know the cdi is at least working if not you need to trace back look for broken damaged wires and look for switches for example side stand or clutch switches which may cut of spark signal from cdi or maybe cdi is damaged but this is last resort due to being expensive to replace.
